This week the children in the pre-school and baby room have been focusing on a variety of tennis activities for Wimbledon, football experiences for the euros and race games for the Formula 1. We have experienced activities both indoors and outdoors relating to these sporting interests.
The pre-school children have used bats and balls to create their own tennis games too. There are many benefits to physical play in early years. It supports balance and coordination, boosts confidence and self-esteem, and supports cognitive development.
Physical play in early years is any type of game or activity that gets children moving around and expending energy We have also enjoyed our morning exercise routines each day to continue this daily movement. Throughout these sessions we stretch, wiggle and move our bodies in a variety of ways.
