On Friday at nursery we celebrated World Animal Day. This is an annual event that was created to promote the wellbeing and protection of animals across the globe.
The event encourages individuals, groups, and organisations to come together to improve animal welfare and celebrate the vital role animals play in our world. With an emphasis on making a positive impact, people use this day to raise awareness of important issues like conservation, habitat protection, and animal rights.
At nursery we focused on the variety of animals that live in our world The pre school children discussed their favourite animals and why they are their favourite animals. We had a variety of choices including dogs, monkeys, crocodiles, butterfly’s and more. The children were able to describe the animal’s similarities and differences too.
We explored a variety of tuff trays and learnt new facts about where different animals live in the world.
Some children discussed their own pets they have at home and how they take care of them too. Some children explained how their dogs go out for a walk to “run” and “play ball”.
We explored why some animals live in a zoo and some live in the wild too. The children created their own giraffes too.
Whilst outdoors in our nursery environment we explored the different insects we could find in our garden and marked these off on our outdoor board.
This was a huge interest by the upper pre school children.
We explored different animal movement songs and created our own animal moves to song.
